This week’s Torah portion, Va’era (Exodus 6:2-9:35) continues the story of liberation as Moses and Aaron return to confront Pharaoh. God renews the promise to free the Israelites, though their suffering leaves them unable to take hope seriously. As Pharaoh resists and the first seven plagues unfold, the parsha shows that redemption develops step by step, challenging power while also beginning to lift a people who can’t yet imagine freedom. The first link is to the Sefaria website for Va’era, and this link will take you to the Torah section of the Reform Judaism website.
Whether you’re a regular Torah reader or new to study, everyone is welcome. Enjoy bagels and coffee—and engaging discussion!
Hold the date for the next Torah Study on February 22.
