To read the Torah portion before our class (helpful but not required), the parsha is Beshalach, filled with drama in the desert! It is in the book of Exodus/Shemot (Exodus 13:17-17:16). <– The link isn’t working right now; go to the Sefaria home page, and type ‘Beshalach’ in the search box at the top.
I have chosen the translation by Everett Fox, as he designed his translation to capture the experience of reading the ancient Hebrew. If you’d like your own copy, his book is titled The Five Books of Moses. Of course, you are free to read any translation you’d like, and there are copies of the Hebrew Bible in the sanctuary at B’nai Torah.
Whether you’re a regular Torah reader or new to study, everyone is welcome. Enjoy bagels and coffee—and engaging discussions that bring multiple perspectives to each reading.
