Torah Study with Rabbi Emily

December 8, 2024 10:00 am

Looking to explore the week’s Torah portion in a fresh, meaningful way? Join Rabbi Emily on Sunday mornings for engaging discussions that bring multiple perspectives to each reading. Whether you’re a regular Torah reader or new to study, all are welcome—no background needed! Enjoy bagels and coffee as we dive into themes, questions, and interpretations together.

Reading the portion beforehand can enrich your experience but isn’t required!

To read the Torah portion before our class, the parsha is Vayishlach, in the book of Genesis/Bereshit. Genesis 32:4–36:43 <– This link will take you to a Hebrew + English version; by clicking on the A on the top right of the section, you can choose whether to see Hebrew, English, or both.

In the link above, I have chosen the translation by Everett Fox, as he designed his translation to capture the experience of reading the ancient Hebrew. If you’d like your own copy, his book is titled The Five Books of Moses

Of course, you are free to read any translation you’d like, and there are copies of the Hebrew Bible in the sanctuary at B’nai Torah.

This program will be held in person.
