Part-Time Executive Director
About Us:
B’nai Torah MetroWest (BTM) is a warm and inclusive Reform Jewish congregation committed to meaningful worship, lifelong learning, and social connection in Greater Boston MetroWest. We are in an exciting stage of growth and vision building, and we are seeking a Part-Time Executive Director to provide leadership to support our daily operations, enhance community building, and oversee financial operations, communications, and outreach. The role is 20 hours per week, with Wednesday afternoons required on site in Wayland, MA. Occasional onsite availability on evenings and weekends may be asked to support congregational events.
The Role
The Executive Director will serve as the Senior Administrative and Operational Leader for B’nai Torah Metrowest, working in close partnership with the Rabbi and the Board of Directors. As Executive Director, you will be responsible for the financial, operational, administrative functions of the synagogue, ensuring our smooth and sustainable operations. The Executive Director is the welcoming face of the Congregation for members, prospective members, and the broader community, supporting the Board’s implementation of the congregation’s vision and strategic priorities. The ED will translate that vision into actions that ensure the long-term spiritual and financial health of B’nai Torah MetroWest.
This is a highly visible role that blends strategic leadership with hands-on management. The Executive Director helps shape congregational culture, builds strong relationships with members, and ensures that day-to-day operations run smoothly, transparently, and professionally.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Strategic Leadership
- Serve as primary contact for members, prospective members, and community partners, creating a warm, responsive, and welcoming experience
- Collaborate with the Rabbi as a thought partner and operational leader
- Identify and implement opportunities for growth, innovation, and community engagement
- Develop and oversee congregational programming with the Rabbi and Board of Directors
Financial Management & Administration
- Fiscal Oversight: Oversee financial administrative and financial operation of the congregation.
- Budgeting: Update financial records in QuickBooks and monitor revenue and expenses.
- Produce financial reports for the Treasurer and the Board of Directors.
- Dues & Collections: Manage billing, dues collection through Vanco platform, and work with members to ensure timely payments.
- Produce tax statements for members
Communication and Scheduling
- Prepare congregational communications: weekly e-newsletters, announcements and promotional materials for services and events
- Maintain calendars and support online scheduling and coordination of all virtual and in-person events, including Zoom access
- Support marketing and outreach efforts to strengthen visibility and engagement using online marketing tools such as Constant Contact
- Respond in timely manner to the Board of Directors, Rabbi and Treasurer keeping everyone up to date
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: 5+ years of senior management or administrative experience (nonprofit or corporate)
- Background: Strong background in operations, budgeting, financial reporting, and project management
- Communication skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Collaboration: Comfortable working with clergy, staff, volunteers, and lay leadership
- Technology skills: Strong technology skills: Google Workspace (Docs, Forms, Sheets), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CRM or membership databases, and Zoom; Constant Contact and QuickBooks experiences a plus
- Familiarity: Familiarity with Jewish Reform synagogue life is helpful but not required; cultural curiosity and openness is essential

Hours and Compensation

- Compensation: $40,000 to $45,000
